Ordinary Time
Saturday of the Fifteenth Week

“The Israelites set out from Rameses for Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, not counting the children.” (Exodus 12:37)

Saint Gregory of Nazianzus reflects on this verse from today’s First Reading:

“Joseph came into Egypt alone, and soon thereafter six hundred thousand depart from Egypt. What is more marvelous than this? What greater proof of the generosity of God, when from persons without means he wills to supply the means for public affairs?.” (Theological Oration 42)

Collect
O God,
Who show the light of Your truth
to those who go astray,
so that they may return
to the right path,
give all who for the faith they profess
are accounted Christians
the grace to reject whatever
is contrary to the name of Christ
and to strive after all that does it honor.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
Who lives and reigns with You
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Glory to the Father
and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning,
is now, and will be forever. Amen
